Zelt Media is an independently owned media and marketing business based in New York. We produce The Local Spotlight direct-mail publication and provide digital business cards, landing pages and web design, brand identity, and printing services to businesses. Our website is zeltmedia.com.

Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Contact form: business name, your name, email address, phone number, the service you are interested in, and any notes you include.
- Free checklist download: your name, email address, and (optionally) business name. We may use these to follow up with related tips and offers from Zelt Media; you can ask us to stop or to delete your details at any time.
- Digital business card orders: the business and contact details you enter for your card, your plan and style choices, and, for Premium orders, any logo file you upload. Payment is handled by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page; we do not receive or store your card number.
- "Claim this offer" requests: your name, phone number and/or email, any note you add, which offer you claimed, and whether you arrived from a postcard QR code. You must check a box agreeing that the business and Zelt Media may contact you about that offer; we record that agreement with your request.
- Founding-spot reservations (for advertisers): your business name, your name, email, phone, the category, spot, and plan you choose, and your agreement to the deposit terms. Payment is handled by Stripe, which saves your card so the remaining balance can be charged as described in those terms; we never see or store your card number.
- Print Shop orders and custom quote requests: your name, business name, email, phone, the product, quantity and size, design choices, where you want your QR code to link, your needed-by date, notes, and any artwork, logo, or reference file you upload.
- Directory listings and digital cards: business contact details that advertisers and card customers provide to us are published on their public listing or card pages, because that is the purpose of those pages.
Form submissions are sent to our own server, saved in a database hosted by our website provider (Netlify), and copied to a Google Sheet that we use to manage inquiries and orders. Uploaded logo files are stored in Google Drive. Print Shop order and quote requests, including any files you upload with them, are received and stored through Netlify's form service, and we may share your artwork and the delivery details needed for your order with our print production partner so your order can be printed and shipped to you.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting logs: Our website is hosted on Netlify, which may process basic server data such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages requested for security and performance.
- Listing and card view counts: When a directory listing or digital card page is opened, we add one to a monthly total for that page. When the page is opened from a QR code printed on The Local Spotlight postcard, we also add one to a separate monthly postcard-scan total for that advertiser and mailing. A digital card link may also carry a short source label (for example, that it was opened from a share image or a social media post) so we can see which places bring visits. We do not store your IP address, device details, or any identifier with these counts.
- Spam and abuse protection: To limit repeated form submissions and sign-in attempts, our server temporarily keeps a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of the connecting IP address with a counter. These entries are routinely deleted, generally within a day.
- Fonts: Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address as part of that request.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or other advertising or behavioral tracking tools on this website.
Cookies and browser storage
This website does not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. The only cookie we set is a strictly necessary sign-in cookie used by the site owner's private admin area; it is not set for regular visitors. After a digital card order, your browser temporarily keeps your order details (in session storage) so we can show you a preview of your card when you return from checkout; this is cleared when that page loads or when you close the tab.
How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiry about our services
- To send you the checklist or other information you requested, and occasional related follow-ups
- To build, deliver, and host the digital business card you ordered
- To publish directory listings and card pages that businesses have asked us to publish
- To pass your "Claim this offer" request to the business you chose, and follow up on it
- To follow up on advertising opportunities you expressed interest in
- To prepare proofs and fulfill Print Shop orders you place with us
- To keep the website secure and prevent spam
- To maintain records of business communications and orders
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, profiling, or targeted advertising.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Your information may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- The business whose offer you claim: when you use "Claim this offer," we email your request to that business so they can contact you about it. They handle it under their own practices. If you give an email address, we also send you a copy of the offer.
- Print production partner: for Print Shop orders, we share your approved artwork and the shipping details needed to print and deliver your order. We do not share your information with them for any other purpose.
- Service providers: Netlify (website hosting, server functions, database, and form submissions), Google Workspace (email, Google Sheets, and Google Drive), Resend (sending notification emails), Stripe (payment processing), and Google Fonts (typefaces). These providers process data on our behalf or as needed to deliver their service, under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfer: In the unlikely event of a business sale or transfer, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Emails and Text Messages
If you request our checklist or contact us, we may email you about your request and occasionally about related Zelt Media services. Every marketing email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, and we honor unsubscribe requests within 10 business days. You can also email info@zeltmedia.com at any time to stop receiving emails.
We only send text messages to people who contact us or ask us to text them, and only about their inquiry or order. You can reply STOP at any time and we will stop texting you.
Your Rights Under New York Law
Under New York's SHIELD Act and applicable consumer protection laws, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information
- Know whether your information has been disclosed to third parties

Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your personal information consistent with our obligations under New York's SHIELD Act (GBL § 899-bb). Our website uses HTTPS encryption, form submissions are sent over encrypted connections to our own server, and access to stored submissions is limited to the site owner.
Data Retention
We retain inquiry information for as long as necessary to conduct business and comply with legal obligations, typically no longer than three years from the date of last contact unless an ongoing business relationship exists.
Children's Privacy
Our website and services are directed at business owners and are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. In compliance with the New York Child Data Protection Act (effective July 1, 2025), if we become aware that we have collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

Services
Zelt Media offers the following services: direct-mail advertising (The Local Spotlight), digital business cards, landing pages and website design, logo and brand identity design, print design and printing (through our Print Shop), and social media graphic design.
All advertising placements in The Local Spotlight are subject to availability. Zelt Media reserves the right to decline any advertiser for any reason, including but not limited to content that conflicts with our editorial standards or existing exclusive category arrangements.
Advertising agreements
Advertising placements are confirmed only upon receipt of a signed agreement and applicable payment. Category exclusivity is guaranteed only for the specific edition and ZIP code confirmed in writing. Zelt Media is not responsible for the accuracy of advertiser-provided content. Advertisers are solely responsible for ensuring their offers, phone numbers, and business information are correct before submission.
Payment, Refunds & Cancellations
Prices are shown on our website or confirmed in writing before you pay. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.
The Local Spotlight
Payment is required prior to production and mailing of any edition. Refunds are not available once production of an edition has commenced. Founding-spot deposits are governed by the deposit terms you agree to at checkout.
Digital business cards
- You may cancel for a full refund at any time before your card is delivered.
- After your card is delivered, it is non-refundable, but we will correct any errors and make reasonable changes to your card information at no charge for 30 days after delivery.
- Your card stays hosted at its link as long as Zelt Media continues to offer hosted digital cards. If we ever stop offering hosting, we will give you advance notice and a copy of your card and contact file.
Print Shop orders
- Proof approval: every print order receives a digital proof. Nothing is printed until you approve it. Please check spelling, phone numbers, links, and QR codes carefully, because you are responsible for errors in a proof you approve.
- Cancellations: you may cancel for a full refund before you approve your proof. If design work has already been completed, the design fee may be retained.
- Custom products: because printed items are made to order, they cannot be returned or refunded once your proof is approved and printing has begun.
- Defects and our errors: if your order arrives damaged, misprinted, or different from your approved proof, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos, and we will reprint it at no charge or refund you.
- Color: colors on screens can look different from printed colors, and small variations in color and trimming are normal and are not considered defects.
- Turnaround and shipping: production and shipping times are estimates and are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by the shipping carrier.
- Your content: you confirm that you own or have permission to use all logos, photos, artwork, and text you send us, and that your materials do not infringe anyone else's rights.
Websites, landing pages, and other design services
Deposits, payment schedules, revision rounds, and refund terms for these services are outlined in your proposal or service agreement.
Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, design elements, and the overall aesthetic — is the property of Zelt Media and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without express written permission.
Advertisers retain ownership of their logos and brand materials submitted to Zelt Media. By submitting materials, advertisers grant Zelt Media a limited license to use those materials for the purpose of producing and distributing their advertisement.
